Storyboards / 2D Animatics
Storyboards are a series of sequential illustrations
for the purpose of previsualizing some kind of audiovisual
work, such as an animation, a live action film or a commercial
spot.
They offer a valuable source of information
during the very first stages of production and help you (and
your customers) picture what the final work will look like,
even before taking action. Producers can reduce their uncertainty
and save money then.
Also refered as visual shooting script,
storyboards are a great tool for visual thinking and planification,
allowing (in film and business) the director and shooting
crew to toy with changes in the cutting, camera movement and
composition of the shots.
Also, storyboards are the perfect support
for a screenplay and help writers explain and sell their projects.
The pictures can be scanned and arranged
along a timeline to give a better idea of how the scene will
look with motion. 2D video animatics can also include a rough
soundtrack and are perfect to get a first look at timing.
